Hi, just wanted to drop by and say I enjoy reading your blog. My name is Zach Lapidus and I'm a senior studying jazz piano at Indiana University.

I was wondering: I'm really unfamiliar with the Portland jazz scene, but I am in Vancouver, WA visiting family for a while. I was wondering if there are any jam sessions going on in Portland or live jazz that I could go and see; I'd like to learn from the players here while I'm visiting.

Thanks,
Zach

Here are the local music listings:

Jimmy Mak's is the big Jazz venue in town, other than that things are kind of spread out around town. We've lost several Jazz clubs recently and there's not a lot of clubs right now.

Let me know if you'd like to take a lesson with our local piano genius Randy Porter and I can send you his contact info. He's the man here in P-town.

Hey, thanks a lot for the quick response. I would like Randy Porter's information, that sounds great.

Thanks for the information on the sessions; I tried checking portlandjazzjams.com and it said that Wilf's was no longer a jam session, but I also noticed the site hadn't been updated in a while so I figured it would be best to ask around.

Thanks a lot for the info and maybe I'll see you around at one of these.

Thanks,
Zach
